GREE Launches Green Joint Initiative

1

As one of the official special events of COP30, the session centered on “Digital Empowerment for a Sustainable Future”, focusing on the integration of digital innovation, energy efficiency enhancement, and industrial decarbonization. GREE officially released the “Joint Initiative for a Shared Green Future,” drawing on its practical experience, offering a replicable action framework for low-carbon development across global manufacturing and demonstrating GREE’s responsibility and contribution as a Chinese manufacturing enterprise in global climate action.

The session emphasized that sustainable development in manufacturing must rely on technological innovation and model transformation. Nitin Arora, Director of the UN Global Innovation Hub, stated that sustainable innovation requires the convergence of scientists, policymakers, investors, and communities.

Through forward-looking governance and systemic design, innovative technologies such as AI and automation should embody ethical principles, inclusivity, and climate resilience, ultimately making innovation a powerful force for equity and broad-based benefit.

Luis Neves, CEO of GeSI, presented three core viewpoints: “First, treat AI and digital platforms as infrastructure, and embedded them into supply chains and emissions management; second, ensure technology adheres to a ‘purpose-driven’ principle, serving human and climate goals. GeSI has established a performance measurement framework and certification program, calling for broader participation; third, industrial ambition and climate action are inseparable—smart manufacturing is a critical pillar of climate governance.” He called for global cross-sector collaboration to build a robust digital foundation for just energy transition.

GREE has vividly demonstrated this path through global practice. In the keynote speech, Nicolaus Cheng, GREE Brazil’s Marketing Director, showcased how GREE leverages dual engines of “core technology” and “digital intelligence” to implement green manufacturing.

According to calculations, widespread adoption of GREE’s “Zero-carbon Source” (Photovoltaic-Storage-Air Conditioning) systems by 2050 could reduce CO₂ emissions by approximately 100 billion tons—equivalent to the carbon sequestration of 116 billion trees over 100 years—effectively mitigating global temperature rise by about 0.5°C. To date, GREE has provided green energy solutions for over 12,000 projects across more than 35 countries and regions worldwide.

Digital Innovation

Among the key topics at the session, “digitalization” emerged as one of the most discussed keywords. By integrating artificial intelligence and the Internet of Things into R&D, manufacturing, and energy management processes, GREE has not only significantly improved its own operational energy efficiency but also aims to empower global value chain decarbonization through replicable and quantifiable solutions.

In China, GREE has established six recycling resource bases, cumulatively recovering and processing over 47 million sets of old electric appliances, reducing carbon emissions by approximately 2.25 million tons. In intelligent manufacturing, through the construction of digital factories, GREE achieves one air conditioner being produced every 15 seconds, with production efficiency increased by 80%, annual carbon reduction of 36,700 tons, and electricity costs reduced by 25%.

GeSI and energy experts from multiple countries also shared their recognition of GREE’s model during the session—digital innovation is becoming a common language for manufacturing to address climate change, and GREE’s practice provides clear technical references and methodological guidance for global industries.

Unite Consensus

As global climate governance enters the “action era,” this special session has offered an inspiring digital pathway for the future of sustainable industry. From the COP30 venue in Belem, Brazil, to green factories around the world, GREE is expanding the boundaries of green manufacturing through technological power and infusing new energy into sustainable industry via digital innovation—painting a more hopeful Chinese vision for the just energy transition.

With excellent product quality and perfect after-sales services system, it has won wide praise and trust from domestic and foreign customers, demonstrating the strong strength of Chinese brands on the international stage.
